SCECIMEN COLLECTION

During the 19th century, the Victorian naturalists developed our modern day understanding of natural history. The shift from "philosophy" to "science" occured during the period shaping our understanding of evolution. Tis collection was inspired by the field journals these scientists created during their observations. Specimens illustrations and statistics were beautifully documented in leather bound journals blurring the line between art and science. The scents in this collection are also inspired by nature. Heirloom Fruit Tree mixes sweet ripe fruit with lush floral notes. Gardenia Nectar is a delicate floral with undertones of citrus. Sea Spray evolves the crisp fresh scent of salty sea air.

EMPIRE COLLECTION

The Empire collection is a modern montage of royal iconography reflecting the decadence and extravagance of the legendary monarchies. Baroque crests with gilded candlesticks thorny roses and gothic gargoyles are mixed under the watchful eyes of large-scale etched Rubenesque portraits. The scents in this collection reflect the era's fascination withall things romantic. Jasmine Tea smells warm and rich with fruity undertones. Spice Trade mixes a deeply heady and exotic blend of warm spices with hints of amber. The light green scent of Cucumber Elixer has a fresh clean finish.

Delicate, botanical illustrations encircle this sweet and feminine collection. Fashioned after botanical drawings found from turn-of-the century botanist notebooks, each candle represents a different flower and corresponding scent. Represented are Sweet Pea and Vanilla (a SKEEM favorite), Gardenia Blossom and Blue Lily.  

DAMASK COLLECTION

The lustrous, ornate patterns of damask weaving from turn of the century European fabrics inspired this collection of candles. Made on complex jacquard looms, damask fabric was used on everything from table coverings to window treatments. We incorporate these patterns and design a patchwork effect interspersed with stripes of "ribbon" meant to look like embroidered trim. The scents in this collection are all inspired by different types of tea, an afternoon pastime that may have been enjoyed in a drawing room filled with these rich damask fabrics. 

Refreshing, modern stripes encircle these candles. Scents are unusual fruit combinations designed to be relaxing and to relieve stress and fatigue. Orange Peel smells like the first burst of sweet orange and bitter peel as you peel back a perfectly ripe fruit. Currant Berry is a wonderful combination of tart and sweet designed to lift the spirits and improve energy.

FINCH COLLECTION 

This classic collection combines pattern, botanical imagery and the now iconic finch bird. Layered like a collage the candles include great ephemera finds as vontage labels and graphic ornaments. The fresh spring palette includes a collection of garden scents like Fresh Lilies a strong pretty floral scent. Willow Blossom a mixture of earth, greenhouse and freshly cut greens, Clementine Tree, an easy recognizable sweet and sour citrus.

CIRCLE DOTS 

This collection has a clean, modern look. Wonderful for outdoor entertaining, both the color palette and the scent are sophisticated. Scents include Champagne Bubbles, with the wonderful oaky and fruity combination of a glass of bubbly. Ocean Air mixes all the scents of the beach: salty air, sandy beach and briny ocean. SARI BORDER

The Sari Border collection is inspired by the rich, colorful, silk saris worn by women throughout india. The saries are intricately embroidered with gold borders. All three candles feature paisley motifs, a popular icon used in India on carpets, clothing and temporary henna tattoes, known as Mendhi. The paisley motif is screened  onto the candle in a rich, gold, matte mettalic ink. The unique scents are inspired by the food and drink peddled by urban street vendors. Fresh Lime Soda has a strong, crisp sour lime scent, sweetened slightly with overtones of honey. Mango Lassi is a cool yogurt and mango milkshake, it's scent densley sweet with just a touch of spice. Fig Chutney is often enjoyed as a condiment to take the edge off spicy food. It's scent is sweet, but also exotically spiced with cardamom and cinnamon.

ICHIBAN

Ichiban, meaning #1 or "the best" in Japanese, perfectly describes these candles, which combine layer upon layer of our best iconographic finds collected in Chinatown. Imagery celebrating this blending of Asian cultures is woven together to create this lively, all-over design. Japanese type, paper lanterns, silk fabrics, and Chinese tea packaging, are just a few of the items that inspired this collection. Among the symbols represented, are icons reflecting transformation, rebirth, tranquility and harmony. The scents selected for this collection are deeply layered and complex. Fortune Cookie is a sweet almond swcent with undertones of citrus. Mountain Peach, a Japanese delicacy the size and texture of a strawberry, smeels of a sweet, juicy, ripe peach. Happy Orchid is a strong, sweet scent that is equal parts floral and fruit. 

Filigree Collection

Our Filigree collection combines delicate and elaborate layers of ornamentation to create this modern-romantic collection. Usually seen on jewelry made with fine-spun, twisted wire, Filigree refers to the lace-like apperance of this intricate art. We have used flourishes, arabesques, cartouches, scrolls, and ornaments to weave a lace pattern that is thoroughly modern in feeling. Your choice of 24 karat gold, platinum, or graphic black ink. Sweet Balsam smells of fresh cut evergreens mixed with spring bulbs. Amber Clove is a warm scent mixing musk and spice. Tea Leaf is a complex, light and fresh combination of herbal tea and sage.

Modular Collection

Our modular candle collection incorporates simple, geometric shapes, fluid lines, and graceful curves often found in mid-century modern design, inspired by organic structures in nature, technology and futuristic forms, mid-century designers used these motifs to create the fun and colorful style often referred to as Op Art or Mod. Cedarwood Vanilla is dark and woodsy with the sweetness of vanilla. Bamboo Garden is an earthy, green scent mixed with floral undertones. Kumquat and Fig is an exotic combination with the rich dark, dense sweetness of fig and finishes with the lightness of citrus.
